While developments in the search for Nancy Guthrie, mother of "Today" show anchor Savannah Guthrie, were sparse in the fifth week since her disappearance, investigators appear to be exploring a new detail in the abduction case.
During a report on the NBC morning talk show Friday, March 6, NBC News correspondent Liz Kreutz shared that authorities canvassing Nancy Guthrie's Tucson, Arizona, neighborhood on Thursday were asking residents if they noticed any issues with their internet service the night of Guthrie's disappearance.
"They [said] the investigators told them that several people in the area have mentioned glitches with their internet that night," Kreutz, who spoke to three homeowners, said.
Neither the Pima County Sheriff's Department nor the FBI have confirmed this investigative detail, Kreutz noted, including the possibility of a "Wi-Fi jammer" being used by Guthrie's alleged abductor. However, the NBC reporter said Sheriff Chris Nanos previously told the outlet that authorities are "looking at every angle" of available surveillance footage, which shows a masked man standing in front of Guthrie's front entrance and appearing to tamper with the door camera.
