A 20-year-old man has been arrested for trying to rob an ATM to splurge on his girlfriend in Mumbai. He saw several tutorial videos on YouTube before committing the crime.
A man has been arrested for trying to rob an ATM in Mumbai. In a bid to give his girlfriend a lavish lifestyle and spend money on buying her expensive gifts, the man broke into an ATM near the Grant Road area in South Mumbai.
The accused, identified as Ritesh Bharti, saw several tutorial videos on YouTube on how to break ATMs, including which objects or weapons to use for the crime. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The incident took place inside the Union Bank ATM at Gowalia Tank. The assistant manager of the bank, Rohit Sonawane, filed a complaint against the accused at the Gamdevi police station.
Based on the complaint, a team was formed under the supervision of Gamdevi senior police inspector, Dattaram Girap, and detection officer API Shrinivas Darade to investigate the matter. The police scanned more than 100 CCTV footage to nab the accused.

A Mumbai Police official said, "The accused wanted to spend lavishly on his girlfriend by taking her out and showering her with gifts. So he thought of identifying this particular ATM that didn't have a security guard stationed. Our team is yet to recover the cutter and iron rod that were used in the breaking of the ATM."
"No cash was reported missing as he was unsuccessful in removing money, which is the only thing he was concerned with. He was inside the ATM kiosk for an hour and he completely destroyed it. When the money didn't come out, he left," the official added.
Randhawa had accused the former minister of pressurising him to allocate a tender for a Godown to his father, Sukhdev Singh Bhullar. Before his death, the officer had also written to his seniors, accusing Bhullar of forcing him to falsely confess to taking bribes for tenders.
According to exclusive information from top defence sources, the operation is being conducted with the highest degree of caution and minimal publicity to ensure the safe evacuation and transit of Indian-flagged cargo ships.
According to the Delhi Fire Service, the bus lost control and overturned near the Jhandewalan Temple in Delhi's Karol Bagh area. The department added that the bus, carrying at least 25 passengers, came from neighbouring Rajasthan.

CCTV footage of the incident shows the accused seated among several other women and browsing through clothes. Meanwhile, her 5-year-old son discreetly picks up a purse from inside a bag kept behind one of the unsuspecting customers.
The crime came to light two days later when the younger girls informed their mother. A case has been registered under BNS provisions, and further investigation is underway.
