A fire that broke out in a mall in Mumbai's Bhandup area on Friday has claimed 11 lives. While the fire started on the first floor of the mall, smoke reached up to the third floor which houses a Covid-dedicated hospital.
At least 11 people died after a fire broke out late night on Thursday at a Mumbai mall housing a Covid-19 hospital where patients were being treated. The fire reportedly started on the first floor of the mall located in Mumbai's Bhandup area but the smoke had reached up to the Sunrise Hospital on the third floor. Two casualties have been reported in fire incident. Rescue operation for 76 patients admitted to COVID care hospital is underway. According to reports, DCP Prashant Kadam said that 10 people who died in the blaze were coronavirus patients at the Sunrise Hospital. When the death toll was two, the hospital had come out with a statement saying both were coronavirus patients who were already dead from the disease when the fire broke out. It had added that there was no death due to the fire.
Amid preparations for an engagement and haldi ceremony in Maharashtra's Dhule district, an argument broke out between two groups over the printing of names on a wedding invitation card, during which three people were attacked with sharp weapons and killed. Three others were injured and are undergoing treatment.
