
Muddana Mitramandali founder Balachandra Rao passes away

Nandalike Balachandra Rao, founder of Muddana Smaraka Mitramandali, known for literary activities, passed away; visit his house to pay respects.
Nandalike Balachandra Rao, 72, former Karnataka Bank’s public relations officer and one of the founders of Muddana Smaraka Mitramandali, passed away in the city on Wednesday.
His wife and daughter survive him. People can visit his house in Chowta’s compound in Bejai and pay their last respects between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Thursday. Last rites will be held in his native Nandalike in Karkala taluk of Udupi district.
Mr. Rao was known for the various literary activities undertaken by Muddana Mitramandali, which he founded along with others in Nandalike, the birthplace of the renowned poet Muddana.
Apart from bringing out a comprehensive volume of Muddana’s works, Mr. Rao also created a DVD of the Muddana Manorame conversation. He worked to bring out volumes on Muddana’s work in Yakshagana. He was also involved in holding the Muddana birth centenary programme every year.
