MS Dhoni, Vijay Deverakonda make 'men in red' the hottest menswear trend

Men are having a red moment, and they’re not holding back. Considered a bride’s colour, bright shades of red are now making a confident entry into men’s ethnic wardrobes. From striking kurtas to richly embroidered sherwanis, several recent celebrity fashion moments champion red as the new statement colour in festive and wedding fashion.
Former India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni made a strong case for ‘men in red’ at a wedding he attended in Mumbai earlier this week. He wore a bright red kurta, custom-designed by designer Heena Kochhar, paired with an ivory dupatta. The ensemble, by the way, was inspired by Uttarakhand’s Aipan ritual. Aipan is a sacred art ritual from the Kumaon region, traditionally created by women using rice paste on a red base during weddings and celebrations to invite prosperity, protection, and blessings. Much like Aipan, the red base of Dhoni’s kurta was enlivened with intricate ivory embroidery.
MS Dhoni pulled off the outfit with effortless ease.
Red was also the defining element of actor Vijay Deverakonda’s much-talked-about wedding look. It was one of those weddings where the fashion world’s gaze wasn’t fixed solely on the bride. Dressed like a royal prince, Deverakonda paired heavy gold jewellery with a striking vermilion red angavastram, proving that red isn’t just a bridal colour, it can be an equally elegant choice for grooms. Vijay Deverakonda wore a rich red angavastram for his wedding with Rashmika Mandanna.
Another recent celebrity wedding where red took centre stage in the groom’s wardrobe was that of Arjun Tendulkar. The son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun married Saaniya Chandhok on March 5 in a grand, star-studded ceremony. While the glitzy guest list drew plenty of attention, the groom’s regal red ensemble was equally hard to miss.
