
Militants open fire, kill 2 CRPF jawans in J&K's Lawaypora

Two CRPF jawans were killed in action on the outskirts of J&K's Srinagar on Thursday when militants attacked a convoy of security personnel.
Militants attacked a convoy of CRPF personnel in Lawaypora, on the outskirts of Srinagar on Thursday. Two CRPF jawans were killed in action and another two suffered severe injuries, J&K Inspector General (IG) Vijay Kumar said. Initial inputs indicate that a group of militants opened fire at a CRPF convoy in Lawaypora area of Central Kashmir's Srinagar district. The incident took place at the Lawaypora Main Chowk. Two CRPF jawans suffered bullet wounds and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment where they succumbed. Another two jawans are undergoing treatment.
As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
