MBBS graduate Anuj Agnihotri has secured All India Rank 1 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025. Originally from a small town in Rajasthan, his journey from medicine to public administration reflects years of preparation, policy thinking and a strong interest in field-based governance and public service.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the Civil Services Examination results on March 6, 2025, Anuj Agnihotri emerged as the topper.
The Rajasthan-born candidate secured All India Rank 1, completing a journey that moved from medicine to public administration.
His mock interview responses with Ensure IAS, recorded earlier during preparation, show a candidate comfortable with policy debates, governance challenges, and ethical questions — even when he did not know every answer.
Agnihotri grew up in Rawatbhata, a town known for its nuclear power facilities. Introducing himself in the mock interview, he described it simply as “a small town in Rajasthan” where he completed most of his early schooling.
He later moved to Jodhpur to pursue an MBBS degree at All India Institute of Medical Sciences Jodhpur, graduating in 2023.
Instead of continuing in clinical medicine, Agnihotri chose the civil services route and joined the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service. At the time of the mock interview, he was undergoing probation training in the service.
