Director Emerald Fennell's take on the Emily Brontë novel was an instant success, raking over $80 million globally in its opening weekend.
If you've been waiting to take in (or retake) the steaminess of "Wuthering Heights" from the comfort of your couch, the time is here as the film is set to release digitally later this month.
The "bold and original interpretation of one of the greatest love stories of all time," director Emerald Fennell's "Wuthering Heights" is the story of childhood friends Cathy (Margot Robbie) and Heathcliff (Jacob Elordi), "whose forbidden passion for one another turns from romantic to intoxicating in an epic tale of lust, love and madness," according to the film's synopsis.
Elordi previously told USA TODAY that despite the story's clearly toxic tendencies, he found it "inherently romantic."
"For me, it’s about the unapologetic nature in which each character feels the way that they feel," he said. "Even though it can be dark and scary and violent, they're not afraid to look each other in the eye and say, 'I love you and I need you.' … It might be toxic and it might be jarring, but that's how we are as human beings."
Fennell's controversial take on the Emily Brontë novel was an instant success, raking over $80 million globally in its opening weekend, USA TODAY previously reported.
