Mani Ratnam's period drama Ponniyin Selvan is all ready for release. The makers earlier unveiled the first-look posters of the movie. The posters featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, and Vikram, among others, left everyone waiting for the release of the film. Ponniyin Selvan will be released in two installments and the first installment is scheduled to be released on September 30, 2022. Ahead of this, makers have teased that they will be sharing new updates in the coming week, starting with the motion poster.
The makers today (June 2) shared a motion poster of the film with the message, "Look out! Brace yourself. Get ready for an adventure. The Cholas are coming! #PS1 (sic)." Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1) is set in the 10th century and features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Sarathkumar, Rahman, and Aishwarya Lekshmi in lead roles.

As per the announcement, the magnum opus is based on Kalki’s eponymous Tamil novel that was serialized in the 1950s. Ponniyin Selvan is set in the tumultuous period before Ponniyin Selvan (son of River Kaveri), later known as Rajaraja Chola, who became one of the greatest emperors in Indian history. The film is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies. PS- 1 will release in multiple languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Legendary singer and composer AR Rahman scored the music for the film. The film also marks the reunion of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with Mani Ratnam after the 2007 release Guru.
Mani Ratnam is a noted director, screenwriter, and producer of Indian cinema. He has already won six National Film Awards till now.
