The DMK candidate for the Ramanathapuram Assembly Constituency Katharbatcha Muthuramalingam filed nomination paper here on Saturday with Returning Officer Habibur Rahman.
He was accompanied by MP Nawas Kani, Congress District President Rajaram Pandian.
Speaking to reporters following the nomination, Mr. Muthuramalingam said: “We will seek votes by highlighting the projects implemented during our five-year governance to the people. In the last election, the DMK alliance won all four constituencies in Ramanathapuram district, and we will win all four again this time. To create jobs for the youth of Ramanathapuram, a mini TIDEL Park will be established.”
“Steps will also be taken to find a permanent solution to the fishermen’s issues. A cold-storage fish processing centre with air-conditioning facilities will be set up in the Rameswaram island area, along with marketing facilities,” he added.
In the Ramanathapuram municipality area, contracts worth ₹25 crore have been awarded for road construction, and these works would be completed shortly.
