Chiyaan Vikram and his son Dhruv Vikram are all set to wow you with their forthcoming film, Mahaan. On February 3, the makers of Mahaan dropped the trailer. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Mahaan is a gangster thriller set in North Madras. The trailer shows Vikram as a notorious gangster and Dhruv as a ruffian. Mahaan has skipped theatrical release and will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on February 10.
Director Karthik Subbaraj's Mahaan was slated to release in theatres. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the team decided to go the OTT way. Reportedly, Amazon Prime Video shelled out a hefty sum for the direct premiere of Chiyaan Vikram and Dhruv's Mahaan.
On February 3, the trailer of Mahaan hit the web and received an overwhelming response from the fans. The official Twitter handle of Amazon Prime Video shared the YouTube trailer link and wrote, "Are you ready to play your hand? May the best man win. Trailer out now. Watch #MahaanOnPrime, Feb 10 (sic)."

Director Karthik Subbaraj impressed Vikram and Dhruv with the story of Mahaan and brought them together for the first time in a film. Also, Mahaan marks the 60th film of Chiyaan Vikram in his career.
In a statement, Vikram said, “Mahaan will have the audiences hooked throughout with its perfect blend of action and drama, balanced by intense emotions. My character in the movie has multiple shades and it was very interesting to transition from one emotion to another as the story progressed. It is, of course, also an extra special film for me one, as I reach a milestone in my cinematic journey with this being my 60th film, and secondly, as my son Dhruv Vikram is playing my reel-life son in it. He has worked very hard for this role, and I am very proud of him. Also working with a director as talented as Kartik Subbaraj, who has this exact vision for what he wants as an end result, is always a pleasure. I am delighted that Mahaan is launching on Prime Video and that it will reach viewers across the globe, starting 10 February.
Dhruv said, "Mahaan is very special to me as this is the first time I am getting to share screen space with my father and that too in a role portraying his son. He is a very talented man with an excellent understanding of the craft and I have so much to learn from him."
