Long queues to pay tax: Councillors urge authorities to introduce online payment facilities at Dindigul council meeting
Appealing to the authorities to introduce online mode of payment, the Councillors said that there were long queues in front of the tax collection centres on Friday.
They were speaking at the Corporation council meeting that was held in the presence of Mayor Illamathi. Deputy Mayor Rajappa, senior officials from the Corporation and among others participated.
A total of 57 resolutions were passed unanimously at the emergency meeting, officials said.
During the question hour, councillor Ganesan (CPI M) said that the conservancy workers had removed the debris from the drainage channels in RM Colony Vandipathai area and left it on the road side. He urged the officials to remove them immediately as it posed a threat to the eco-system.
Another councillor Mariammal (CPI-M) said that the Corporation should exclusively allot conservancy workers for this purpose as the carriage space in many narrow roads had shrunk due to the debris being dumped on the road sides.
John Peter (DMK) said that there were long queues to remit taxes and rents at the Corporation office. Intervening, the authorities said that there was online payment facility and that they would shortly introduce payment through QR code as well.
