
LG Vinai Kumar Saxena visits North Delhi Municipal Corporation area, directs officials to ensure cleanliness

The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi visited the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) area on Thursday and instructed officials to work on ensuring cleanliness while beautifying flyovers. He also asked the Integrated Command and Control Centre be updated with a change.
Following his visit to the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) area on Thursday, VK Saxena, Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Delhi, instructed officials to come up with a plan to beautify, clean and declutter flyovers in the area. He also asked for the restoration work of Gole Market to be completed as soon as possible.
During his visit to the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), he asked the officials to explore the possibility of replicating it by the Municipal Corporation Delhi (MCD) in its various zones.
A statement from the LG office read, "Stressing again on uniformity of design, aesthetics and public convenience, the LG directed officials to come up with a plan to beautify, clean, improve and declutter all flyovers in the NDMC area, including the Ranjit Singh Flyover connecting CP to JLN Marg, Lala Lajpat Rai Flyover connecting Defence Colony and the ones' near Oberoi Hotel and Neela Gumbad amongst others."
Saxena also encouraged the civic body to ensure “uniform and appealing colouring, grills and plantation on the central verge of the flyovers” while also stressing on maintaining the cleanliness of the area. He asked for the lanes, by-lanes, service roads and dark spots in the NDMC and CP areas to be tidied up at the earliest. “The LG also underlined the importance of cleaning and clearing of the area below the flyovers," the statement added.
Further, the statement said, "The LG directed the officials to complete the restoration of the iconic Gole Market, which is currently closed, at the earliest. He also pointed out encroachments and lack of maintenance in the surrounding areas. Similar instructions were issued by him with regards to Bengali Market and the northern outer circle of Connaught Place adjoining Minto Bridge, as also the Shankar Market."
He also added that the maintenance and repair of roads and footpaths should be integrated in the system so that real-time status could be monitored by the NDMC.
"The LG witnessed firsthand as to how the services being provided to citizens by NDMC and integrated into the ICCC system are being delivered and monitored. Appreciating the work done so far in operationalizing this world-class system, he directed officials present to also integrate the maintenance and repair of roads and footpaths and grievances thereof into the ICCC system so that real-time status check and monitoring could be done.”

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
