A major terror conspiracy targeting Hindu temples in Delhi has been foiled with the arrest of eight suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives allegedly working under a Bangladesh-based handler linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the terrorist group's top leadership.
According to Delhi Police investigators, the module had conducted detailed reconnaissance of multiple temples in the capital city, with videos recovered from the accused’s mobile phones.
Security has since been tightened around religious sites in the Chandni Chowk area, which was believed to be a primary target.
According to sources, reconnaissance footage of key temple locations in Delhi was transmitted to Shabbir Ahmed Lone — a Kashmiri terrorist currently based in Bangladesh — who is suspected of coordinating the plot.
Lone is believed to have been in touch with the LeT's senior leadership, including 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed and commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, since at least 2007.
Investigators allege Lone operates under the ISI's directivea and has been recruiting Bangladeshi nationals to execute attacks in India while masking Pakistan’s role.
