Kerala police arrest state rescue service employee over RSS worker's murder

A Kerala Fire and Rescue Services employee was arrested in Palakkad in connection with RSS worker Sreenivasan's murder.
An employee of the Kerala Fire and Rescue Services was arrested in Palakkad on Tuesday in connection with the murder of Rashtriya Swayam Sevak (RSS) worker Sreenivasan. The man has been identified as Jishad, an employee at Kongad fire station. Jishad joined the Kerala Fire and Rescue Force in 2017.
Police officials said Jishad was among the people who wanted to avenge the murder of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) worker Subair. The police claimed that a list was prepared and Jishad was a part of it. The probe team said that he collected and shared information about the RSS workers.
According to the police, Jishad was involved in the murder of another RSS worker, Sanjit. Jishad purportedly collected Sanjit’s travel details. Jishad will be questioned in the Sanjit murder case, as well.
Sreenivisan, an RSS worker, was murdered on April 16. The incident was alleged to be in retaliation for the murder of SDPI worker, Subair.
A former Physical Education instructor of the RSS, Sreenivasan, was murdered by a group of assailants who arrived on three bikes. They hacked him to death inside his shop. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
The murder of the RSS worker took place a day after the SDPI worker was killed. The victim, Subair, was the area secretary. He was allegedly hacked to death by five people in Kerala’s Palakkad district on April 15.
