
Kerala braces for more rains as four districts put on orange alert

IMD issues orange and yellow alerts for Kerala districts as heavy rains and tidal surges are expected until May 23.
Kerala is bracing for more heavy rains on Tuesday (May 20, 2025). The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts.
The IMD has stated that Kerala will continue to receive moderate to heavy rains until May 23. The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information (INCOIS) has forecast tidal surges and choppy seas.
