
Kerala assembly polls: IUML to contest in 27 seats with UDF alliance, woman gets ticket after 25 years

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), the alliance partner of Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), announced its list of candidates from 25 out of the total 27 seats on Friday.
Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), the alliance partner of Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), will be contesting on 27 Assembly seats in the upcoming Kerala election 2021. As part of the deal, the Congress will contest 91 seats in the 140-member Kerala assembly. The IUML announced its list of candidates from 25 out of the total 27 seats on Friday. As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
