Sarma attacked Rahul Gandhi for demanding proof of the September 2016 surgical strike and asked whether the BJP had ever demanded any proof of him being the "son of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi".
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) on Saturday demanded the removal of Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma over his remarks against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Sarma, during a rally in poll-bound Uttarakhand on Friday, attacked Rahul Gandhi for demanding proof of the September 2016 surgical strike and questioning the efficacy of the anti-Covid vaccines and asked whether the BJP had even demanded any proof of him being the "son of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi".

During his address at a public meeting at Raigiri, the Telangana CM asked PM Modi and BJP chief JP Nadda to sack the Assam CM. "You sack him. I am demanding... Can a Chief Minister talk like this? There are limits. Are you egoistic? Doing tamasha? You think people will remain silent," said KCR.
“Is it BJP’s culture? Is it Hindu Dharma and Indian culture? I am demanding as an Indian. I feel ashamed. This is not good for the country. Do you think we will keep quiet with folded hands?,” he further questioned.
Meanwhile, condemning Sarma, NSUI National Secretary Nitish Gaur said, "The chief minister has made very deplorable remarks. It is an insult to the (former) prime minister of India Rajiv Gandhi and Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi.”
