A village in Nanjangud taluk of Mysuru district is set to emerge as a “model” for the rest of the State in combating the second wave of COVID-19, which is sweeping rural areas. Katuru village in Hardanahalli Gram Panchayat limits, which has a population of about 2,000 people, has not reported a single case of COVID-19 ever since the pandemic broke out last year.More Related News
In 2021, five women from Mayithara, four of them MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) workers, found a common ground in their desire to create a sustainable livelihood by growing vegetables. Rajamma M., Mary Varkey, Valsala L., Elisho S., and Praseeda Sumesh, aged between 70 and 39, pooled their savings, rented a piece of land and began their collective vegetable farming journey under the Deepam Krishi group.
