Mohammad Arif, one of the accused in the Karnataka Hubli riots, attempted to kill himself inside prison. He reportedly drank turpentine inside the prison. Officials say that he was moved to the hospital and is currently out of danger.

A week ago, police arrested All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) corporator Nazir Ahmed Honyal, in connection with the stone-pelting incident at Old Hubli Police Station.
On April 16, a mob of 1,000 people tried to attack the Hubli police station around midnight. The mob pelted stones at the police station and 12 policemen were injured in the incident.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
