Jilted man stabs woman inside car showroom in Coimbatore; victim stable, accused arrested

Coimbatore Police arrested Dinesh, a photographer from Salem, for stabbing Subasri, after she refused to accept his proposal. He approached her on Monday at the car showroom where she was working and committed the crime. The victim is in stable condition.
A 21-year-old woman was stabbed by her jilted lover, inside the car showroom in Coimbatore where she worked, on Monday, July 11. The victim is stable and the accused has been arrested.
According to a report by The Times of India, the victim, Subasri (21), hails from Kuniyamuthur in South Coimbatore. She had met the accused, Dinesh, from Salem, through Instagaram, and they became friends two years ago. Dinesh reportedly worked as a photographer.
A police officer said, “Dinesh often travelled to Coimbatore to meet her. He fell in love with her and asked her to accept his love. Subasri refused to do so and blocked his mobile number two months ago.
Dinesh entered the car showroom where Subasri was working on Monday around 9 am and started arguing with her.
“Suddenly, he took out a knife from his pocket and stabbed her in the neck, shoulder and face. When he tried to flee, the other staff in the showroom caught him and handed him over to us,” said a police officer.
Police registered a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him. Police also retrieved the CCTV footage from the showroom. He was remanded in judicial custody and lodged in Coimbatore Central Prison.
