James box office collection Day 2: Puneeth Rajkumar's film fares well, eyes solid opening weekend

Late actor Puneeth Rajkumar's James has impressed the audience. On Day 2, the audience flocked to the theatres to watch their favourite star on screen for the last time.
Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar's last film, James, has made fans emotional. The film hit the theatres on the Kannada superstar's birth anniversary, March 17. His fans and friends came together to celebrate Puneeth, who is fondly called Appu. According to reports, James broke all the existing records of other Kannada films and earned Rs 45 in two days. The film was released in Kannada along with its dubbed versions in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu.
James opened to a thumping response and fans couldn't help but praise Puneeth's performance and action stunts. The action flick was released in 400 theatres across Karnataka and recorded over 4000 shows worldwide. On day 2, i.e. on Friday, the film reportedly grossed close to Rs 18 Crore from Karnataka. The grand total now stands at a whopping Rs 45 Crore. The tickets for most shows were sold out even before the release. Fans visited the theatres with their family members to celebrate Puneeth Rajkumar.
Puneeth Rajkumar breathed his last on October 29, 2021, after suffering a massive cardiac arrest. The actor is survived by his wife, Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, and two daughters, Drithi and Vandhitha. He was laid to rest at Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru.
Directed by Chethan Kumar, James is a full-fledged commercial entertainer with Puneeth Rajkumar essaying the lead role. He played the role of Santhosh Kumar AKA James, a paratrooper and a fierce protector. The film also features Sarath Kumar and Priya Anand in important roles. James was the last film Puneeth shot for, before he passed away.
