A tehsildar (tax officer) in Rajasthan's Sirohi district on Wednesday burnt nearby 20 lakh after the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a revenue inspector taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh on his behalf.
A tehsildar (tax officer) in Rajasthan's Sirohi district on Wednesday burnt nearby 20 lakh after the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a revenue inspector taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh on his behalf, officials said. A team of ACB arrested revenue inspector Parvat Singh while taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a man on behalf of the Tehsidar Kalpesh Kumar Jain for awarding him a contract, they said. The incident took place when the team reached Jain's house where locked himself to prevent the cops from entering inside and started burning currency notes using cooking gas, they added.
As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
