Kishan’s promotion to opener wasn’t just due to his spectacular form against New Zealand, where he scored 215 runs in four matches, including a 42-ball century in Thiruvananthapuram. On Wednesday, Kishan’s performance only strengthened his case, leaving Samson under pressure and giving the team a powerful alternative at the top of the order.
