iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max launch: Expected India price, specs, camera and design details
India Today
The iPhone 18 Pro series could be Apple's biggest camera upgrade in years, if early leaks are anything to go by. From major camera upgrades to subtle design tweaks, here is everything expected from Apple's next-generation of flagships.
Apple’s next-generation iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may still be a few months away, but early leaks and industry chatter are already shaping expectations. If reports are to be believed, Apple is likely to introduce its 2026 Pro flagship lineup in September, sticking to its long-established autumn launch window. For Indian consumers, availability of the Pro series is expected to follow soon after the global debut. With the iPhone 18 Pro series, the company is also rumoured to unveil its first-ever foldable iPhone, while keeping the launch of the standard iPhone model for next year.
Of course, Apple has not confirmed any launch details or a possible phased rollout of the series. That said, leaks suggest the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, in particular, will focus on meaningful refinements rather than radical changes. With upgrades to the camera system, battery, connectivity and display design, Apple is said to be aiming to make its flagship even better and more powerful. Let’s take a quick look at everything expected.
According to reports, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, along with Apple’s first foldable iPhone, are expected to be announced at the company’s annual September event in 2026, possiblyin the second week. Historically, Apple opens global pre-orders within a week of launch, with sales in India beginning shortly after.
As for the delayed launch of the standard iPhone 18, reports suggest Apple has pushed it to 2027 due to a combination of rising memory chip prices and tighter supply chain conditions. With memory makers prioritising demand from AI data centres, Apple is said to be facing reduced flexibility in sourcing key components at scale. The company is also believed to be recalibrating its launch strategy, choosing to prioritise higher-margin Pro models and new form factors, such as the foldable iPhone, while spacing out the release of its regular lineup. While bringing the standard varinet with the 18e in early 2027.
Pricing of the next-gen iPhone Pro series is also speculative at this stage, but early estimates suggest Apple is thinking of hike. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to start at around Rs 1,35,000 in India, while the larger Pro Max variant could be priced near Rs 1,54,900. For context, the iPhone 17 Pro series starts at Rs 1,34,900.
Apple usually plays it safe with design changes. While the iPhone 17 Pro series did bring some noticeable differences with a refreshed layout, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup is expected to keep things more subtle and refined. On the front, the iPhone 18 Pro may continue with a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max could retain the larger 6.9-inch screen. Leaks suggest the overall silhouette will remain familiar, with small refinements aimed at improving usability and aesthetics.
