Invest at your own risk, RBI Governor's message to cryptocurrency investors

RBI Governor said that it is his “duty” to caution investors, and told them to keep in mind that they are investing at their own risk.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das on Thursday sounded a note of caution over the cryptocurrency, saying it poses a threat to financial stability. Cautioning investors, the governor said they are investing at their own risk.
CRYPTOCURRENCY PRIVATELY CREATED
The RBI Governor said that Cryptocurrency is privately created.
"Cryptocurrency is privately created and it is a threat to financial stability," said the RBI Governor.
Cautioning investors, the governor said such assets have no underlying whatsoever, “not even a tulip”.
The comments are a reiteration of institutional concerns on such assets expressed earlier but assume significance because they come days after the Union Budget put a 30 per cent tax on gains made on such assets.
