Stepan, also known as the ‘chill’ cat on Instagram, has raised a substantial amount to help the distressed animals in Ukraine.
When Russian president Vladimir Putin announced a military invasion of Ukraine on February 24, many people lost their homes, jobs and loved ones. A huge exodus of Ukrainian citizens started as citizens rushed to safety in neighbouring countries. While many refused to leave without their pets, some didn’t have a choice but leave their furry friends behind.
Stepan, also known as the ‘chill’ cat on Instagram, has raised a substantial amount to help those distressed animals. You probably have seen Stepan in many memes and clips where he sits idly with a glass of beverage beside him. But the famous cat from Kharkiv was not so chill when it came to helping out his furry peers.
Stepan’s owners shared a post about how he helped in raising USD 10,000 (Rs 7,57,566.50) online. “My dear friends, I'm heartedly grateful for your responsiveness and support! We gathered $10 035, and these funds will be transferred to @happy_paw, @uanimals.official, @zoo_12m, @snezhana_zahist_tvarin, and Mykolaiv Zoo. Your contributions are priceless — thanks to your support, we might provide decent care and treatment for every animal in Ukraine,” read the caption.

According to previous posts on his profile, Stepan has made it out of the country and is now safe in France with his owners after leaving Ukraine a few weeks ago.
