Raja Kumari, an Indian-American, rapper opens up on her collaboration with Madhuri Dixit, in a chat with IndiaToday.in. She also opened up on her equation with the actress.

Indian-American rapper, songwriter and singer Raja Kumari has been breaking the glass ceiling, one step at a time. With her independent record label ‘Godmother Records’, Raja wants to give opportunities to homegrown talents to showcase their talents internationally. Raja released her first EP titled Head Bi*ch in Charge this week. She also released Made in India, a rethought version of Alisha Chinai’s Made in India which had Madhuri Dixit in a special appearance.

Not just that, Raja also contributed to writing Madhuri’s single Tu Hai Mera which was released just recently. With back-to-back projects, Raja surely has tightened her ropes to ensure Indian music, especially classical music, finds an audience globally. In an exclusive chat with IndiaToday.in, she drew parallels with Korean music aka K-pop, which has taken the world by storm. She asserted that the Korean music explosion in the USA does not follow any pattern.

First, speaking about her collaboration with Madhuri Dixit, Raja told IndiaToday.in, Raja told us, “That’s called manifestation. I am a very focused child (laughs). Madhuri has always been important in my life with the films she has made and the grace she has shown for me. Her career has been a blueprint for me on how to be a classical dancer and still be relevant, and bubbly, and fun. For me, she is the ultimate. About seven years ago, she came to America to produce a song which everyone is about to hear now, Tu Hai Mera, which is like her reciprocating love for fans. If I can feel that, I am sure everyone else will. The way I feel for Madhuri, I always say that I am her biggest fan."

Speaking about Madhuri's cameo in Made in India, Raja shared, “I just asked her and told her about my album. Madhuri has always been very supportive of me. She just opened her arms and family to me when I first came to India. They just wanted to protect me in this new city. I think I am standing tall today because of the various examples Madhuri has shown me. I just showed her my first project as a director, and she showed up for me, her whole team showed up for me. I am humbled my directorial debut is with Madhuri.”
