After India Today exposed ambulance cartels outside big hospitals in Jaipur that were overcharging patients and their families, the Rajasthan government has made GPS tracking mandatory in all ambulances.
After India Today exposed ambulance cartels operating outside Jaipur’s biggest hospitals and overcharging patients and their families in violation of government guidelines, the Rajasthan government on Friday issued an order making it mandatory for all ambulances to have a vehicle tracking system or GPS device installed. Over the past few days, India Today’s team conducted an undercover investigation and found that ‘ambulance sharks’ outside Jaipur’s big hospitals are charging people exorbitant amounts, even for short distances, in complete violation of the government’s directives issued in April this year.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
