Rubrik CEO Bipul Sinha discussed the future of artificial intelligence and the need for cybersecurity during the India Today AI Summit 2026. Sinha claimed that while AI has led to big gains in opportunities, it also increases potential risk. The session was titled, “Masterclass: The AI dreams of the world.”
He said, “AI is 100 times more opportunities and 100 times more risk.” The Rubrik chief stated that while AI has become more productive, models still hallucinate, and the more they hallucinate, the more they are “prone to compromise.”
Bipul Sinha reckoned that there was no way to avoid cyberattacks. He said, “cyberattacks are inevitable, just like death and taxes.” The Rubrik CEO insisted that there was a need to focus on recovery after an attack, and not to stick only towards prevention.
Sinha cited the example of hospitals and other health institutions that will need to get back up right away even in such a scenario. He revealed that many of Rubrik’s cybersecurity products are designed in India in the company’s Bengaluru office.
During the session, the Rubrik CEO was asked how to overcome the threat of deepfakes online. Deepfakes refer to realistic AI avatars that may impersonate an individual to disseminate misinformation.
Bipul Sinha said that there was a time when people were afraid to use credit cards online. But then websites started getting certification badges, building trust in users. Similarly, there was a need for certified marks for AI avatars.
