India reported 19,673 new Covid-19 infections and 45 deaths on Sunday (July 31), according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry.
India reported 19,673 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday (July 31), 3.6 per cent lower than yesterday, according to data shared by the Union Health Ministry. This brings the country’s cumulative caseload to 4,40,19,811.
Total recoveries were at 4,33,49,778 across the country. A total of 19,336 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate is now at 98.48 per cent.
India's active caseload stands at 1,43,676. In the last 24 hours, active cases increased by 292.
Among all the states, Maharashtra reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 2,087, followed by Karnataka with 1,886 cases, Kerala with 1,595 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,548 cases and Delhi with 1,333 cases.
These five states accounted for 42.96 per cent of the daily new cases reported on Sunday, with Maharashtra alone responsible for 10.61 per cent of the new cases.
In the last 24 hours, 45 people succumbed to Covid-19, increasing the total reported death count to 5,26,357. Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (8), followed by Maharashtra with 4 daily deaths.
India conducted 3,96,424 tests during the previous day, according to the Health Ministry data.
