IND vs SA: Ishan Kishan set to become the second-fastest Indian batter to 500 T20I runs

IND vs SA, 4th T20I, Ishan Kishan is currently the leading run-scorer in the ongoing T20I series against Temba Bavuma's South Africa.

Left-handed batter Ishan Kishan is only 47 runs short of becoming the second-fastest Indian batter to reach the 500-run mark in T20Is. The southpaw will have a chance to achieve the record in India's fourth and penultimate match of the ongoing five-match T20I series on Friday, June 17 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.

Kishan is currently sitting at 453 runs from 13 matches at an average of 37.75 and a strike-rate of 132.45 with four half-centuries to show for his efforts. KL Rahul, who was ruled out of the series due to an injury, holds the record for the fastest fifty by an Indian batter in T20Is.

Kishan, in the meantime, is also the leading run-scorer in the current series, having scored 164 runs from three matches at an average of 54.66 and a strike rate of 157.69 with two half-centuries to his name.

His top score of 76 came in the first T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. To his dismay, his knock went in vain as David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen took the Proteas home with relative ease.

Kishan also scored a well-made half-century in the third T20I in Vizag. That time around, his knock turned out to be match-winning as the Men in Blue won by 48 runs.

After winning the third T20I, India managed to stay alive in the series. Rishabh Pant also won his maiden game as the skipper of the Indian team. Earlier, after Rahul was ruled out, Pant was named as the skipper of the Indian team.
