Ian Ziering Explains Why He 'Didn't Post Anything' After Shannen Doherty's Death

"Some people criticized that," the "90210" star said.
Ian Ziering waited until the time was right to publicly grieve his former “90210” cast mate and friend, Shannen Doherty.
The actor posted an emotional tribute to Doherty a year after the “Charmed” star died from Stage 4 cancer. She was just 53.
“When I first heard she was sick, we had nearly a decade more with her,” Ziering wrote in an Instagram post Monday. “And even then, most of the updates sounded less like ‘Shannen’s fighting cancer’ and more like ‘cancer picked the wrong woman.’
“That was her way — strong, defiant, take-no-prisoners tough. Every time I saw her during those years, she was still Shan — fierce, funny, full of life,” he said.
“That’s why her passing hit me like a freight train. I was shocked. I truly believed she was going to pull off one more miracle.”
