The US allegedly hatched up a secret arrangement with the Taliban to evacuate its citizens and troops from Afghanistan, according to a report in CNN. This involved setting up of a "secret gate" at the airport and establishing "call centers" to guide Americans through the evacuation process.
After 20 years of war in Afghanistan, the US pulled out its troops and citizens from Kabul on August 31. The evacuation process was aided by none other than the Taliban, which seized power in Afghanistan on August 15, after the US military allegedly negotiated a secret arrangement with the militant group. According to a CNN report, the secret arrangement with the Taliban allowed members of the militant group to escort US nationals to the gates of the Kabul international airport.
Oil and gas refineries and hubs are up in flames not just in the Middle East, but also in Russia and the US. Crude oil prices have surged over $100 a barrel. With the energy infrastructure in the Middle East likely to take years to be rebuilt, the world could be set for the biggest oil disruption in history.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said the United States was in contact with "the right people" in Iran and suggested that Tehran was eager to reach an agreement to halt hostilities. "We're in negotiations right now," he told reporters, without offering further details on the scope or format of the talks.
