Municipal authorities warn hotels and eateries against waste dumping, urging cooperation for a garbage-free Vizianagaram.
Municipal authorities have warned of stern action on hotels, restaurants and other eateries which are reportedly dumping waste material in nearby vacant places. The garbage piled up in those places is leading to mosquito menace and health problems for the people living in the vicinity.
The officials said that many hotels had resorted to unauthorised, permanent constructions and covered the drains completely making it difficult for the sanitation staff to remove piled up garbage. This resulted in clogging of the drains at GT Road, Chinna Veedhi, Ulliveedhi, Ice Factory area, Padmavati colony and other places.
Municipal Commissioner Palli Nallanayya directed all the hotels to maintain cleanliness in and around their premises and remove concrete structures on drains immediately. The Commissioner, who has been making surprise visits during nights and early hours to observe the functioning of sanitation staff, said that it was the responsibility of every individual to maintain cleanliness in their areas. “We request people to observe dry day on every Friday. They should keep wet and dry waste separately, which will help the sanitation staff to process it quickly. Only with the cooperation of people, we can make Vizianagaram a garbage-free city,” said Mr. Nallanayya while speaking to the media here.

The Shakespeare Millennium Club in collaboration with the Annai Velankanni Church (Society of St. Vincent De Paul), conducted a Free Medical Camp on November 23, 2025 at the church premises from 9 am to 6 pm, with Dr. Samundi Sankari and Dr. Divya Sivaraman of Srushti Hospitals, Dr. Sharada L N of Aramba, the Kumaran Dental Clinic, Lychee and Satya Physiotherapy Centre, according to a press release.
