
Hospitals cannot be potential jatugrihas: Bombay HC orders fire audit of Maharashtra hospitals

The Bombay HC has taken note of the frequent hospital fires across Maharashtra and has asked for a fire audit to be conducted in all hospitals across the state at the earliest.
"We do not want hospitals turning into Jatugrihas," the Bombay High Court said taking cognizance of the frequent hospital fires across Maharashtra. The court also ordered a fire audit to be conducted in all Covid-related hospitals and centres across the state, at the earliest. The HC directed the Maharashtra government to ensure municipal authorities conducted an immediate fire audit of all hospitals, nursing homes and Covid-19 care centres across the state. The High Court referred to the highly combustible house of lac - Jatugriha, that Duryodhana had built for the Pandavas in the "Mahabharata" while taking note of the frequent fires.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
