Hotel and restaurant associations in Maharashtra have decided to protest against state government's decision to impose weekend lockdown and other curbs to contain the surge of Covid-19 cases. The hospitality associations will hold a silent protest outside all hotels and restaurants in the state on Thursday at 12:30 pm. The hospitality associations across the state, including The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), Hotel and Restaurant Association Western India (HRAWI), National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) and Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association (AHAR) and other local associations, have formed United Hospitality Forum of Maharashtra (UHF) and have initiated a campaign called '#MissionRoziRoti' to highlight their desperate bid for survival. The umbrella body of associations has stated that hotels and restaurants are in deep financial trouble and without government's consideration, the industry will be staring at a catastrophe.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
