
Heavy rain in Karnataka coastal belt till June 1, says IMD

IMD predicts heavy rain and strong winds in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Uttara Kannada districts from May 30 to June 1.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday that heavy rain (64.5 mm to 115.5 mm) with sustained winds (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur at a few places and very heavy to extremely heavy rain (115.6 mm to over 204.5 mm) with sustained winds (40-50 kmph) are likely at one or two places over Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada districts on Thursday.

Heavy rain with sustained winds of 30-40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts on May 31, the IMD said. It said heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts on June 1.
Meanwhile, 10 houses were damaged in 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday in rain-related incidents in the Udupi district. Of them, seven were in Kundapur taluk, and one each in Kaup, Karkala, and Brahmavara taluk, according to the office of the Udupi Deputy Commissioner.
Udupi district recorded 77.5 mm of rainfall during the period.
According to the Dakshina Kannada District Disaster Management Authority, seven houses in Bantwal taluk were partially damaged and two were fully damaged in the district during the period.
