Five National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in Mumbai in the wake of the yellow alert.
After a break of a couple of days, heavy rains returned to the Maximum City on Monday, which led to waterlogging in low-lying areas and affected vehicular movement on major roads.
The city’s local train network was also impacted by the downpour. On the CSMT-Thane section, some trains on the mainline were delayed by 10-15 minutes, while a few on the harbour line were 10 minutes late. Trains were running smoothly on the Trans-Harbour link and the Nerul/Belapur to Kharkopar route.
According to civic officials, the island city recorded 21 mm of rainfall from 8 am to 6 pm, while the eastern and western suburbs received 17 mm and 25 mm of rainfall, respectively.
The deluge continued on Tuesday morning. The Bandra-Sion T Junction was inundated, resulting in slowdown of traffic in the area as commuters waded through waterlogged stretches.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
