On Friday, a heatwave swept Delhi before showers, thundershowers and gusty winds brought some respite towards the evening. Parts of Noida and Gurugram also got a relief from the scorching heat as light showers and gusty winds stormed the cities.
The weather department has also sounded an ‘orange alert’ for hail storms and thunderstorms in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
"Back-to-back western disturbances will continue to give intermittent respite from the heat. No heatwave is likely for a week," Mahesh Palawat, vice-president (meteorology and climate change) at Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency, told PTI.
