Have 3 children: Mohan Bhagwat's demographic appeal to Hindu families
India Today
Mohan Bhagwat expressed concern over what he described as a declining Hindu population and said Hindu families should consider having at least three children.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday said Hindu families should consider having at least three children, citing concerns over population trends and their long-term impact on society.
Speaking at a social harmony meeting in Lucknow, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief called for greater unity within Hindu society. “There is a need to unite and empower Hindus. There is no threat to us but vigilance is necessary,” he said.
Bhagwat expressed concern over what he described as a declining Hindu population and referred to scientific opinions suggesting that societies with an average fertility rate below three could face the risk of disappearing in the future. In that context, he said Hindu families should consider having at least three children.
Mohan Bhagwat added that newly married couples should be made aware of this view, stating that the purpose of marriage is to carry forward creation, not merely to fulfil personal desires.
He also raised the issue of illegal migration, saying infiltrators should be “detected, deleted and deported” and should not be provided employment.
On religious conversions, Mohan Bhagwat said conversions carried out through inducement or coercion must be stopped. He emphasised speeding up efforts to bring people back to the Hindu fold and ensuring their welfare.

India on Monday said it has not held bilateral talks with the United States on deploying naval vessels to secure merchant shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The clarification came after US President Donald Trump urged countries to send warships to keep the strategic waterway open amid tensions with Iran.
