Gujarat's first human library has been opened in Junagadh with an aim to bring people closer to each other.
For the first time in Gujarat, a ‘Human Library’ has been set up in Junagadh. The library will be a medium of emotional conversation between people.
Dr Rachit Raj, Chief Officer of Administration, made a special room in the district administration office in which the employees could sit between 1 PM to 3 PM and talk to each other about their personal and emotional health.
Raj said, “This concept was executed in Denmark in 2000 itself. In our country, too, many private companies have taken such initiatives. However, this is the first project of this kind that has been undertaken by a government body.”
Raj explained, “These days, people are becoming more emotionally distant from one another. Hopefully, the Human Library will help to bridge that gap by becoming a palace where people can freely communicate and connect with each other. This will be a library where you get a chance to read the minds and hearts of people instead of books.”

The Human Library Organisation was founded in 2000 in Denmark with the objective to create a safe space for dialogue between people regarding sensitive topics.
They meet their goal by creating a special dialogue room, where taboo topics can be discussed openly and without condemnation. A place where people who would otherwise never talk find room for conversation.
