Govinda ditched live event and forced his team to flee in bus, says Abu Malik

Abu Malik revealed how Govinda skipped a live show in Pusad, leaving 15,000 fans waiting. To avoid a riot, Abu's brother, Daboo Malik, performed in a dancer's costume to mimic the star. The entire crew eventually fled in a bus to escape the confrontation.

For a long time, the industry has been filled with anecdotes regarding actor Govinda's professional commitments. Joining the conversation, music composer and show organiser Abu Malik recently shared a specific instance where the actor reportedly missed a live event hosted by his own brother-in-law. According to Malik, Govinda's absence left an audience of more than 15,000 people waiting at the venue.

In a recent appearance on the show Maa Kasam on Varun Thakur's YouTube channel, Abu Malik shared a story about a time Govinda failed to appear for a live performance at his own brother-in-law's event. Abu explained that while the actor had personally asked him to set up the show in Pusad, a village in Maharashtra, he never actually arrived, leaving thousands of fans in anticipation. The organiser noted that the function was helmed by producer Atmaprakash Sharma, who is married to Govinda’s sister, Padma Sharma.

"Govinda had become a big star at that time. He asked me to do a show for him so that he can save some money. They put up a show in Maharashtra village. I said yes because Govinda was already doing a film for me, I was ready to do it for free for them. I was a top person for dancers, choreography and musicians, they were always with me," the composer added while recalling the incident.

Abu revealed that it was his younger brother, music director-singer Daboo Malik, who stepped in to salvage the situation. He said, "My younger brother Daboo was with me. Everyone was changing their clothes, I felt maybe Govinda is going to come. Daboo used to look like Govinda – short, smart, sweet looking... I kept announcing that Govinda is about to come soon He didn’t come. I felt that these 15,000 people would kill me. I was told that a helicopter was sent to bring him there. But then I realised – where would it land? So, once I realised that Govinda wasn’t going to come, I saw my brother standing there. I asked him to get dressed in a shiny costume from the dancers and perform."

Abu admitted that the situation became so tense that his entire crew had to flee the location in a bus. This hasty exit was a desperate move to avoid a direct confrontation with the restless crowd that had gathered for the live show.

Abu was one of the contestants in the television reality show Bigg Boss 13, hosted by Salman Khan.
