Governor Jishnu Dev Varma inaugurates a 108-foot national flag at Mehdipatnam Garrison, honoring armed forces and national pride.
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Thursday inaugurated a 108-foot-high national flag at the Mehdipatnam Garrison in a ceremonial event organised by the Indian Army.
The event was attended by Special Chief Secretary for Home CV Anand, Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy, Cyberabad Commissioner of Police M. Ramesh, senior Army officers, civil dignitaries, representatives of the Flag Foundation of India, soldiers, veterans and NCC cadets.
The programme included a guard of honour, hoisting of the Tricolour and the rendition of the national anthem. Addressing the gathering, the Governor paid tribute to the bravery and professionalism of the armed forces and acknowledged the sacrifices of soldiers and their families. He also appreciated the contribution of veterans and veer naris, and urged NCC cadets to uphold the values of discipline, service and patriotism.
He thanked Naveen Jindal, president of the Flag Foundation of India, for sponsoring the 108-foot mast, and commended the foundation’s efforts to promote respect for the national flag. Major General Rahul Dev Sharma, General Officer Commanding of the Bison Division, expressed gratitude to the Governor and said the installation reflects the coordination between the civil administration and the army.
