The 12th edition of the Women's World Cup will be played in New Zealand from March 4 (today) to April 3 with 8 teams battling for the top prize. The world’s first international cricket match took place in 1844 between Canada and the United States. The first women’s World Cup tournament was held in 1973, also won by this year’s defending champions, England. This year, eight teams from around the world will compete for tournament victory.
Defending champions England will open their campaign against the most successful side in Australia on March 5 while West Indies and hosts New Zealand will begin their campaign in Mount Maunganui in the opening match of the showpiece event.
