Google marked the beginning of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup with an animated doodle. The doodle features six female players playing the game in the presence of spectators.

The 12th edition of the Women's World Cup will be played in New Zealand from March 4 (today) to April 3 with 8 teams battling for the top prize. Google marked the beginning of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup with an animated doodle. The doodle features six female players playing the game in the presence of spectators.

If you go to the Google homepage and search for Women's Cricket World Cup, it will redirect you to a page with news about the tournament and you will see cricket balls moving from left to right on your screen.

The world’s first international cricket match took place in 1844 between Canada and the United States. The first women’s World Cup tournament was held in 1973, also won by this year’s defending champions, England. This year, eight teams from around the world will compete for tournament victory.

Defending champions England will open their campaign against the most successful side in Australia on March 5 while West Indies and hosts New Zealand will begin their campaign in Mount Maunganui in the opening match of the showpiece event.
