Google celebrated the 191st birthday of India’s first female Muslim teacher, Fatima Sheikh, with a doodle on January 9. Fatima Sheikh was born in 1831 on this date in Pune. Along with Savitribai Phule, Fatima Sheikh taught communities of marginalized Dalit and Muslim women and children who were denied education based on class, religion, or gender.
