In a first of its kind case, a mother has approached court seeking compensation for the mental agony she is going through because her son and daughter-in-law refuse to give her a grandchild.
In a first of its kind case, a woman approached the civil court in Haridwar seeking directions to get compensation for the mental agony she is going through due to her son and daughter-in-law’s refusal to produce a grandchild.
Suing her son and daughter-in-law to the tune of Rs 5 crore, the mother filed the petition in court through her lawyer AK Srivastava.
In her petition, the woman said she spent a lot of money on her son's education and made him a successful pilot. She also stated that she spent a huge sum on her son's wedding in 2016, and sent the newly-weds on a honeymoon to Thailand with her own money.
However, after the wedding, the daughter-in-law forced her son to shift to Hyderabad and since then the family is not on talking terms, the mother said.
The suit further alleged that her daughter-in-law’s family takes full control of her son's salary and supports their daughter in every decision.
The suit prayed that son and daughter-in-law should be directed to conceive the child in one year’s time or else pay compensation of Rs 5 crore to the parents.

Amid preparations for an engagement and haldi ceremony in Maharashtra's Dhule district, an argument broke out between two groups over the printing of names on a wedding invitation card, during which three people were attacked with sharp weapons and killed. Three others were injured and are undergoing treatment.
