The Greater Bengaluru Authority expands to 86 members, enhancing representation with key political figures included.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has been revised with 86 members now forming the authority. The revised notification released on Friday includes several additional members compared to the previous 75-member body.
The government decided to add these names based on seniority and scale of representation, the GBA officials said. Among those named in the revised list are Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty, member of Lok Sabha and former Minister K. Sudhakar, MLA C.N. Ashwath Narayan, Munirathna, among others.
The reconstitution follows the passage of the Greater Bengaluru Governance (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025, which was adopted by the Legislative Assembly in December 2025. The amendment provides for members of the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council to be included as members of the GBA, provided their constituencies fall within its jurisdiction.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar had then pointed out in the Assembly that the names of certain elected representatives had been left out of the earlier GBA composition despite being within its jurisdiction.

After more-than-two-year wait, the flyover at Goripalayam junction will be commissioned on Saturday. As of now, the main arm of the new flyover, named after freedom fighter Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, will help to decongest vehicular movement from Tamukkam junction till Nelpettai junction on East Veli Street.
