Gadar turns 20. Sunny Deol thanks fans for turning his film into an event

Sunny Deol’s iconic film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha completes 20 years of its release today, 15 June. Directed by Anil Sharma, the romantic period drama also starred Ameesha Patel. On the film’s 20th anniversary, Sunny took to Instagram to express his gratitude to everyone who made Gadar historic by loving the film. Set during the Partition of India in 1947, Gadar rekindled the feeling of patriotism in the audience. The film garnered massive success and broke quite a few records. It emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time 20 years ago, surpassing the record of the 1994 film, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! Gadar was also the first film which had an early morning show at 6 am in the theatres as the audience demanded it.
