Celebrate Women's Day with free boat rides, health camps, and empowering discussions in Puducherry on March 8, 2026.
Free boat rides, health awareness initiatives and screening for breast and gynaecological cancers marked the celebration of International Women’s Day on Sunday (March 8, 2026).
The Tourism Department hosted free boat rides for women, including international visitors, at Chunnambar, Nonankuppam and Ousteri boat houses.
Tourism Minister K. Lakshminarayanan greeted domestic and foreign tourists as well as a large number or children, and distributed sweets.
The free boat rides on Women’s Day was on the basis of a decision by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, a press note said.
The Association of Surgeons of India, Puducherry unit, in association with the French Consulate, Alliance Francaise and Vasan Eye Care, organised an exhibition, panel discussion and free medical camp at the Lycee Francais international school.
The programmes were designed as a collaborative initiative to promote women’s health, preventive care, and empowerment through dialogue, awareness, and community engagement, a note said.
